Two dogs died and one firefighter was taken to the hospital after a house fire in Wilkins Township early Monday morning, Tribune-Review news partner WPXI reported.

Nobody was home at the house on Ridgecrest Drive when it ignited overnight.

Firefighters were called shortly before 12:30 a.m. and extinguished the blaze within a few hours.

The cause of the fire and the status of the injured firefighter are unknown.
