No one was injured Monday afternoon when a fire ripped through a vacant house in Braddock, officials said.
Authorities received a report of the fire along the residential alley June Way near Ajax Way shortly before 2 p.m., Rivers Edge Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tyler Toth said.
Firefighters from more than 10 stations responded and spent about 30 minutes putting out the fire, Toth said.
Initial reports included concerns that the fire might spread to an adjacent property just a few feet away, but firefighters managed to contain the flames and smoke to the single two-story home, Toth said.
Both homes were vacant.
The home where the fire started appeared to have been used primarily for storage, Toth said. Officials reached and notified the property’s owner.
It was not immediately clear what may have caused the fire or where it began.
Emergency officials continued to inspect and snap photos of some of the charred remains of the house’s interior around 4 p.m.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating.
