Football, ribs, music combine at Heinz Field Rib Fest and Kickoff
Chomping on award-winning ribs and watching some football is not a bad way to spend a late-summer day.
The 16th annual Heinz Field Rib Fest and Kickoff is Aug. 29 through Sept. 2 on the North Shore.
The event features ribs and brisket vendors from all over the country.
The festival attracts more than 100,000 attendees over five days, officials said.
Opening night includes a “Party on the Plaza” at 7 p.m., which includes watching the Steelers final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on a big screen outside of Heinz Field.
On Aug. 30, Pittsburgh’s beloved rock band The Clarks will perform outside Gate A at 9 p.m.
The University of Pittsburgh kicks off its football season at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 31 when the Panthers host the Virginia Cavaliers.
On Sept. 1, the Eli Young Band will be on stage at 9 p.m. to bring their Texas-style rock to town.
The Gatorade/Steelers 5K Race, Fitness Walk and Kid’s Kickoff Run which begins at 8 a.m. on Sept. 2.
