A former Duquesne University basketball player initially charged with rape and sexual assault in 2017 pleaded guilty Monday to disorderly conduct.
Nick Washington, 21, received a sentence of one year of probation in exchange for the guilty plea to disorderly conduct, court records show.
Charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault and aggravated indecent assault were withdrawn.
“The charges were withdrawn due to evidentiary reasons and with the consent of the victim,” said Mike Manko, spokesman for the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office.
The victim in the case alleged that she met Washington at a party and went to the university’s campus with Washington and two others, according to the original complaint. She said that her cell phone died, and she went with Washington to his room to use his charger. There, she alleged, he assaulted her, according to the complaint.
As part of his probation, Washington must have no contact with the victim.
