The former McGinnis Sisters building on Northern Pike in Monroeville is getting a facelift.

The building that housed the former McGinnis Sisters in Monroeville is getting a facelift, but the new owners remain mum on plans.

Glimcher Group, a commercial real estate firm based in Pittsburgh, purchased the property in April for nearly $1.7 million under 4301 Northern Pike Partners LLC.

The firm did not respond to several calls seeking comment.

Glimcher also owns Monroeville Plaza along William Penn Highway, where Gander Mountain and Giant Eagle used to be located.

McGinnis Sisters closed its last two remaining stores in Monroeville and Brentwood in March 2018.

The company was founded in Baldwin 71 years ago by Elwood McGinnis. The most recent former owners — McGinnis sisters, Noreen Campbell, Sharon Young and Bonnie Vello — said competition from large stores forced them to rethink plans to pass the business on to the next generation of the family.
