Giant Eagle reports confirmed coronavirus cases at 2 more stores
People at two more Giant Eagle stores in the Pittsburgh area have tested positive for covid-19, the grocery store operator announced.
The company announced on its website that it got confirmation of the cases at its Pine Creek store, 9805 McKnight Road, McCandless, and Robinson Market District, 100 Settlers Ridge Center Drive, on Saturday.
A spokesman confirmed Wednesday that they are store employees.
At Pine Creek, the employee who tested positive was last known to have been in the store on March 14; at Robinson, the last known date in store was March 20.
Both stores are marked as having been sanitized and remain open.
Giant Eagle had previously acknowledged that employees at five stores had tested positive for coronavirus. That included stores in New Kensington, North Huntingdon and Wexford, along with Altoona and Brunswick, Ohio.
Outside the Pittsburgh area, Giant Eagle said an employee at its Boardman, Ohio, store was confirmed positive on Monday. The person was last known to have been in that store on March 25.
A positive case was confirmed March 26 at its Brunswick Center Road GetGo in Ohio, with that employee last known to have been there on March 24.
The Ohio locations are also marked as sanitized and open.
While the company is listing affected stores on its website, it notes that it is removing stores from the site “after five days of thorough sanitization have been completed after the date of confirmation.”
