Police have arrested a Pittsburgh man accused of homicide in connection to the fatal shooting of a 3-year-old girl in a Beltzhoover home early Sunday.

Marlin Pritchard, 51, of the city’s Beltzhoover neighborhood faces homicide, child endangerment and gun charges in connection with the death of the child, Chassity Clancy.

Pritchard was booked into the Allegheny County Jail on Sunday morning.

Police and medics responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 200 block of East Warrington Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers cleared the house for a possible shooter, then were told that a child had been shot in the house, Public Safety spokesman Maurice Matthews said.

They found the 3-year-old girl lying in a bed shot in the neck, Matthews said. She was dead as of 1:34 a.m., medics determined.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released an official cause or manner of death.

No one else was injured, police said.
