Grist House Craft Brewery announces expansion
The Grist House Craft Brewery is opening a production facility and taproom at a former missile command center in Collier.
The 55,000-square foot building in Collier is part of the business’ expansion, which includes retail space.
“The building once served as the Nike Missile Command Center during the Cold War and will become our main production facility,” the Grist House wrote on its website.
The Grist House’s Millvale location on Sherman Street will remain in operation.
“Before you get too worried, our Millvale location is not going anywhere and will continue to operate as our home in the city,” the website said. “Gradually we will be moving the majority of operations to this new building, but will always have our home in Millvale.”
Beers available include Black in the USSR, Dark Shaman, Kolsch On the Run and Undead Viking for this dog-friendly brewery.
“This project is going to be a long one, and we are not prepared to announce a timeline at this point, but we simply couldn’t hold onto this secret anymore,” the brewer wrote on its website.
The command center was built in 1957 and became an operational missile command center in 1960. Grist ownership plans to preserve original equipment.
