Pittsburgh police are investigating after gunfire inside a Hill District apartment building struck a water pipe and caused a leak.

Pittsburgh police said gunfire Friday morning inside a Hill District apartment building struck a pipe and caused a water leak.

No one was injured just before 2 a.m. at the apartment in the 2100 block of Centre Avenue, according to Cara Cruz, public safety spokeswoman.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired and found that gunfire went from one apartment suite into another, Cruz said.

One of the shots struck a pipe and caused the leak. Firefighters repaired the water line.

Police are investigating.
