A man is in stable condition after he was kidnapped early Monday and found 24 hours later, bound and shot, in the Hill District, according to Pittsburgh police.

Police responded about 5:45 a.m. Monday to a Lombard Street residence for a reported home invasion and abduction, said Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri.

Investigators said three men were in the home when “unknown assailants” entered, Togneri said. It was not clear how many suspects entered the house or if they forced their way in.

The suspect tied up two of the men inside and kidnapped a third one, police said. A search for the kidnapped man on Monday yielded nothing.

About 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to reports of a man shouting for help in a wooded area near Bedford Avenue and Morgan Street, Togneri said. Officers found the kidnapped man in the woods, his wrists bound, and suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower body.

Paramedics took the man, who police did not identify, to a hospital in stable condition.

No arrests have been made, and police continue to investigate, Togneri said. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 412-323-7800.
