A Hill District man is charged with homicide in connection with the shooting death of a Pittsburgh man nearly three months ago.

Geron Anderson, 24, is accused in the killing of Kenneth Baptiste Jr. in Homewood on March 30, Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said.

Shortly before 1 a.m. that morning, authorities received a report of a shooting in the 800 block of Murtland Avenue, Pittsburgh police said.

First responders arrived to find Baptiste suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Medics took Baptiste to UPMC Presbyterian hospital, where he died, police said.

The next day, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide.

Police arrested Anderson on Wednesday. He faces homicide and firearms charges.

Police did not provide further details.
