One kitten was found dead and 19 others were removed by Humane Animal Rescue officials from a White Oak home Friday morning.

Investigators said they received a tip about 30 cats possibly living there in disgraceful conditions.

A warrant was obtained Thursday to seize the animals. Most of the cats were on the first floor including a mother with three kittens in a dresser drawer.

The home was covered in debris, cat feces and various cats were running loose in the home suffering from hair loss and infected eyes, investigators said.

The rescued animals are under medical supervision at the Humane Animal Rescue’s East End campus.

Officials said each cat received vaccinations and topical flea and ear mite treatments. A majority of them suffer from upper respiratory infections.

HAR Director of Marketing Melissa Smith said they will continue to receive medical care until they’re cleared for adoption, which could take at least two weeks. It’s unclear what, if any, charges would be filed.

Smith said the case is still under review, and the organization is attempting to take ownership of the animals.
