An attempted burglary early Thursday led to a chase in Jefferson Hills, police said.

Police were sent to a residence along the 100 block of Walter’s Lane at about 1:20 a.m. An officer saw a suspect running from the scene.

The officer chased the suspect, who wore dark clothing. Some discarded clothing was found in a wooded area, police said.

An expanded search, involving assisting officers, police dogs and drones, was done for several hours but then stopped when there was no sign of the suspect, police said.

Police said the attempted burglary wasn’t a random act, but they wouldn’t elaborate.

Police ask that anyone with information to call Allegheny County 911.
