A section of Verona Road in Penn Hills reopened to traffic and power was restored around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday after a landslide swept a hillside into a nearby creek.

The slide happened around 8 a.m. It pushed trees onto power lines, knocking out power in the region, according to Penn Hills Fire Marshal Chuck Miller.

About 280 Penn Hills customers were without power, according to Duquesne Light.

There was no debris blocking Verona Road, but the street was closed between Lincoln Road and Sandy Creek Road while Duquesne Light conducted repairs, Miller said.
