Macy’s in Ross Park Mall is one of 36 stores to have “Outdoor STORY,” a collaboration between Dick’s Sporting Goods and Miracle-Gro.
This venture, which runs through September, offers an outdoor-inspired playground that places a focus on entertaining, bringing the outside indoors, as well as recreational activities, according to a news release.
This concept explores a theme through a mix of merchandise from more than 70 brands.
When the chairman and CEO of Macy’s was approached about this collaboration he said it made a lot of sense and wanted to team with Ed Stack, chairman and CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods.
“I think people may be surprised and intrigued by our partnerships, and that is exactly what we wanted,” said Rachel Shechtman, Macy’s brand experience officer and founder of STORY, in a statement. “We want to show both consumers, as well as businesses, that collaboration is the new competition; bringing together brands as storytellers to add authority and authenticity to a subject matter, like we are doing with Dick’s and Miracle-Gro, benefits both the customer and the business.”
In conjunction with this venture, Ross Park Mall will host summer games, including a cornhole tournament from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. Participants can win prizes.
There will be other events over the summer.
STORY is a retail concept that changes every few months.
