A Pittsburgh police SWAT team surrounded a home in the city’s Summer Hill neighborhood early Thursday morning after a woman reported that her boyfriend threatened her and barricaded himself inside, according to authorities.

The woman was outside the home in the 100 block of Montville Street when police arrived shortly before 1:15 a.m., police said.

She told responding officers she believed there was a firearm inside the house.

SWAT officers were called to the scene and negotiators attempted to communicate with the man inside the house.

Officers combing through the neighborhood spotted the man in the backyard of a house about a half block away shortly after 2:30 a.m.

Joshua Miniotas, 28, was taken into custody without incident and charged with simple assault and making terroristic threats.

A firearm was recovered from his home, police said.
