Man sentenced for selling drugs near playgrounds in Garfield
A Pittsburgh man was sentenced to three years and four months in federal prison for trafficking heroin and fentanyl near playgrounds and public housing facilities in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood.
U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said Quinshawn Haynie, 29, sold the drugs close to playgrounds and public housing facilities in Garfield in 2017.
Haynie was on state parole at the time following a seven to 14 year state prison sentence for a violent home invasion robbery that he committed in 2007.
A superseding indictment filed against Quinshawn Haynie and Dara Haynie in August 2018 said the two Haynies allegedly committed the crimes between February 2017 and March 2017. The two are married.
Dara Haynie was convicted of possession with intent to distribute heroin and fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a playground and public housing, and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 29, according to prosecutors.
Quinshawn Haynie was also sentenced to serve six years of supervised release following his prison term.
