A 23-year-old man who was shot and killed while walking in Wilkinsburg on Monday has been identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.

Kevin Hall was shot while walking along Winton Street with a 5-year-old relative at about 1 p.m., police said.

A man with short dreadlocks and wearing a brown beanie got out of a white, four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota, and shot the victim multiple times, according to county homicide Lt. Venerando Costa.

Wilkinsburg police and paramedics discovered Hall near the intersection of Laketon Road and Winton Street. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died later.

Costa said the 5-year-old boy was taken to a hospital for an injury suffered while the man pulled him out of the way of gunfire.

Costa said two good Samaritans assisted the child until emergency crews arrived on scene.

The vehicle was last seen on Laketon Road headed toward Penn Hills.

Anyone with information about the shooting should call the Allegheny County Police tip line at 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous. The department can also be reached via its social media sites.
