A man wanted for allegedly beating his cousin to the brink of death earlier this month has turned himself in to Millvale police on Thursday, authorities said.

Julio Armondo Jenaro, 37, has been wanted by Millvale police since the Aug. 1 fight that left Jenaro’s cousin in critical condition.

In a social media post, Millvale police said Jenaro was in custody. Court records show he was taken to the Allegheny County Jail where he is being held without bail. He faces charges of aggravated assault,, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 20.

Chief Tim Komoroski called Jenaro, who lives in Millvale, a danger to the community.

He said Jenaro and his attorney, who was not listed in court records as of late Thursday morning, arranged on Tuesday to turn himself in two days later.

Komoroski said he turned himself in because of the intense scrutiny the crime had put him under.

The attack started as an altercation during which Jenaro allegedly cold-clocked his cousin and began attacking him as he lay on the floor. He’s accused of beating the other man with a chair and an aluminum baseball bat.

Jenaro took off, police said, and his cousin crawled to the street where a neighbor found him unconscious on the ground. He suffered a broken orbital and temple bones, a broken wrist and internal bleeding.

Komoroski said that if the man hadn’t managed to escape the house and crawl to the street, he’d likely have died. He said he remains in the hospital in serious condition but is expected to survive.
