Allegheny County Police
Police are seeking Derrick Avant in connection with a stabbing April 7 in Pitcairn.

A Pitcairn man wanted in connection with the stabbing death of a woman surrendered to police Wednesday.

Derrick Avant, 59, is being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond. He is charged with homicide.

Avant surrendered at the Rankin police station around 6:45 p.m., investigators said.

Allegheny County police had been looking for Avant since Saturday, when they allege he stabbed Alison Fritzius, 55, of Pitcairn, during an argument on Broadway Boulevard. Police found Fritzius bleeding from a chest wound on a Hillside Avenue porch. She died at an area hospital.

Avant did not have an attorney listed in online court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday.
