A federal court judge in Pittsburgh has sentenced a 64-year-old Mars man to four years in prison for having and distributing a half-million photos and videos showing the sexual exploitation of a girls.
U.S. Senior District Judge Nora Barry Fischer imposed the sentence on David McAnally.
Prosecutors said that in 2015, McAnally was found with more than 500,000 photos and videos depicting girls in sexually explicit conduct. Some of of the girls were younger than age 12.
Prosecutors said McAnally received and distributed the images through Bit Torrent, a peer-to-peer Internet file-sharing network.
He also was ordered to serve eight years of supervised release after prison.
U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
The state police conducted the investigation.
