Pittsburgh police responding to a ShotSpotter alert in Marshall-Shadeland late Saturday morning found a man who had been shot in the face and back, according to authorities.

Officers from the North Side and detectives from the Major Crimes Unit responded to the alert in the 2700 block of Plough Street at 11:15 a.m., a police department spokesman said.

The victim, whose name was not released, was in critical condition when he was transported to a hospital, police said.
