A Pittsburgh woman who was found dead in her jail cell in November died from a drug overdose, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.

Jeanna Rosenberger, 39, died accidentally from combined drug toxicity of fentanyl, bupropion, promethazine and diazepam, the medical examiner ruled. Rosenberger was found unresponsive at the Allegheny County Jail on Nov. 6 just before 9 a.m., officials said.

Jail staff performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid that has been linked to drug overdose deaths around the country. The pharmaceutical version of the drug comes in a variety of forms, but fentanyl has been manufactured in laboratories in recent years and brought into the United States. Drug dealers have mixed the substance with heroin, leaving users unaware of the added risk.

Bupropion can be used to treat depression or for smoking cessation. Promethazine can be used to treat pain and motion sickness. Diazepam can be used to treat anxiety and seizures.

Court records show Rosenberger was arrested a week prior to her death by Pittsburgh police on charges of child endangerment and hindering apprehension or prosecution. She was jailed on $500 bond.
