A water main break along Grandview Avenue in Mt. Washington closed the road on Feb. 5, 2019. The Mon Incline remained closed from an earlier water line break.

Residents who live in the Grandview Avenue neighborhood of Mt. Washington will have no water service through 9 a.m. Wednesday while crews work to repair a water main break, officials at the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority said.

A water buffalo is available at the intersection of Grandview Avenue at Shiloh Street. Residents were notified by robocalls.

The Mon Incline, Grandview Avenue and Wyoming Street are all closed due to this morning’s break, the second in as many days. Crews responded overnight to find water gushing into the air and are expected to be on-site through Friday fixing the line.

Traffic will detour along Shiloh Street.

Shuttles are available for the more than 1,500 commuters that use the incline each day, Port Authority tweeted.

The incline was already closed after a similar water main break Monday flooded the engine room.

Port Authority tweeted several alerts Monday saying the incline would be closed until further notice. They also assured commuters that shuttles will run between Shiloh Street near the upper station and the bus stop adjacent to Station Square near the lower station during regular hours from 5:30 a.m. to 12:45 a.m.

Commuters are asked to allow for additional transit time.

Mon Incline service was also interrupted for several days in late January because of a water main break.

Any water customers who need additional information should call the PWSA emergency dispatch at 412-255-2423.
