A Pittsburgh woman previously dubbed the “Monroeville Madam” faces another prostitution charge.

Amy Schifano, 43, agreed to perform a sex act on a Pittsburgh detective for $200 on July 29, according to a criminal complaint filed against her Tuesday.

Schifano gained notoriety in 2008 when she pleaded guilty to charges related to her involvement operating a multi-million dollar prostitution and cocaine distribution ring out of Monroeville with her then-boyfriend, former National Football League player John Robert Buczkowski.

At the time, Buczkowski pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against Schifano and other co-defendants. He was sentenced to 90 days of house arrest.

The Gateway alumnus and former NFL player died in May 2018 at age 54 from an accidental drug overdose, according to a medical examiner’s report.

Schifano served three-and-a-half years of a 3- to 6-year sentence before being released in April 2011. Four months after her release, she was arrested and charged with similar violations. She served five days in Allegheny County Jail before posting $5,000 bond.

In the latest incident, Schifano tried to make sure she wasn’t dealing with a police officer by asking him to expose himself and telling him to touch her, according to the affidavit.

The criminal complaint said the detective, who was sitting in a vehicle, refused but persuaded her to continue with the date. Schifano then allegedly reached in the window to touch the detective and asked him to touch her.

The detective then gave the signal for other law enforcement officials to make an arrest, according to the criminal complaint.

The Monday arrest was the product of a joint human trafficking and prostitution detail worked by Pittsburgh and state police, the FBI and the state Attorney General’s Office, according to the criminal complaint.

A Pittsburgh Police detective said he used Listcrawler, an online escort service, under the name “Johns” to arrange for the one-hour appointment for $200.

The criminal complaint said the detective made contact with Schifano by calling a number placed under an ad.

The detective then exchanged text messages and phone calls with Schifano “for a ‘car date’ in the Arlington section of the city,” according to the criminal complaint.

Schifano faces charges of prostitution and using a cell phone as an instrument of crime. She was arraigned in Pittsburgh Municipal Court and released on a nonmonetary bond.

She is scheduled to appear before District Magisterial Judge Kim Berkeley Clark on Aug. 8.
