Single lane restrictions will be needed along the Elizabeth Bridge for the installation of bird screens through the end of February 2019. The work is part of the $31.3 million project to rehabilitate the span over the Monongahela River.

Motorists will face single-lane restrictions in both directions on the Elizabeth Bridge along Route 51 through late February for installation of bird screens, PennDOT announced.

The restrictions will not be in effect simultaneously. Plans call for a southbound lane on the bridge to close weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Work requiring a northbound lane to be closed will occur between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays.

The work is part of the cof the Elizabeth Bridge, which spans the Monongahela River.

The project includes replacement of the concrete deck and barriers, steel repairs, painting, drainage upgrades and other renovation work.
