A motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle crash inside the Squirrel Hill Tunnel on Friday.

State police said the incident took place shortly after 10:15 a.m.

The male biker struck the rear of a box truck and went underneath a flatbed semi-trailer being pulled by a truck tractor, police said.

His name has not been released. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Squirrel Hill tunnel remained closed to outbound traffic for several hours as authorities investigate a crash inside the tunnel. State police are investigating, but were not releasing information about the crash.

Outbound traffic was detoured at the Squirrel Hill/Homestead exit.
