A former Pittsburgh man accused of committing several armed robberies in late 2014 now faces additional charges in the case against him, according to U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady.
George Wilson III, 37, has been in federal custody since being named in an 11-count indictment in June 2015. The new, superseding indictment adds five more counts, alleging that Wilson used a firearm during the robberies.
If convicted, Wilson faces 35 years to life in prison.
The indictment said Wilson robbed two Sunoco convenience stores, an Exxon convenience store and three stores called “The Exchange” that sell new and used audio and visual media.
Wilson is accused of shooting a clerk at an Exchange store in Ross on Dec. 2, 2014, when the employee didn’t open up the cash register quickly enough, according to the indictment. The clerk survived.
Prosecutors said Wilson was arrested shortly on after robbing the Sunoco convenience store in Wilkins on Dec. 26, 2014.
