The Northview Heights Public Safety Center has been named in honor of slain Pittsburgh police Officer Calvin Hall.

Hall, 36, was shot July 14 in Homewood while he was off-duty. He died July 17.

Hall’s mantra: “Time for me to make a difference” appears on plaques at the building which will be renamed as the Officer Calvin M. Hall Public Safety Center.

A ceremony Sunday was held on what would have been Hall’s 37th birthday. About 100 peopled attend.

“He made a difference in multiple people’s lives, including mine and including every person who’s standing here now,” Pittsburgh Police Sgt. Joe Lewis, said in a news release.

The safety center has been open since Dec. 4, 2018. Hall previously worked there.

It was created in collaboration with the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh and the Buhl Foundation’s One Northside Initiative to serve Northview Heights and Allegheny Dwellings.

This is the second building to be named in Hall’s honor. Earlier this month, Point Park University named its training center for Hall.
