A group of about 50 protesters disrupted traffic Friday evening but were peaceful as they moved along several streets in Pittsburgh’s East End, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety social media posts.
City police warned of expected heavy traffic and delays in the area as they blocked off streets surrounding the demonstrators, according to the posts.
The group was protesting the acquittal of former East Pittsburgh police officer Michael Rosfeld in the fatal shooting of Antwon Rose II, a 17-year-old drive-by shooting suspect last June 19.
The group stopped at Centre and Negley avenues, before moving along Negley toward Baum Boulevard.
According to the posts, the group stopped again on Centre, near South Graham Street. When the crowd came to a standstill once more, at Highland and Penn, police closed all streets leading to the intersection.
By about 7:30 p.m, the crowd had mostly dispersed and all roads were open again, Public Safety officials posted, adding that, “as with previous protests, there were no arrests and no incidents.”
