Man in critical condition after shooting near Penn Hills bar
One person remained in critical condition Monday after being shot multiple times overnight near H’s Bar and Grill along Verona Road in Penn Hills.
Allegheny County police said they received calls just before 1:15 a.m. for an unidentified 26-year-old man shot and lying in the roadway of the 4200 block of Verona Road.
The victim was taken to UPMC Presbyterian and is listed in critical condition.
Police said Monday afternoon the victim, who is yet to be identified, tried to get into a moving vehicle moments after being shot.
Police initially said it appeared the victim was shot from within a vehicle and dragged along the roadway from the same vehicle. Prior to the shooting, the victim was inside H’s Bar with a friend.
It is unknown why he left the bar to go outside, Ruckel said. The motive for the shooting is unclear and no suspects have been identified.
Anyone with information is asked to call the county police tipline at 1-833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
The bar was the scene of November brawl during which two women were stabbed with beer bottles.
The women, both in their 30s, required emergency surgery after a large fight on Nov. 26. Police said one woman suffered a large laceration to her thigh and the other had a severe gash to the abdomen.
