Police say one person died in this two-vehicle crash on Frankstown Road in Penn Hills on Thursday at about 4:30 p.m.

The victim of a fatal head-on crash Thursday in Penn Hills was identified as Steven Prazenica, 33, of Allison Park.

Allegheny County homicide detectives believe alcohol was a factor in the crash which happened at 4:30 p.m.

A Dodge pick-up truck traveling along the 12000 block of Frankstown Road toward Saltsburg Road crossed over into the opposing lane of traffic and struck a Nissan SUV head-on near the Advanced Auto Parts store, county homicide Inspector Andrew Schurman reported.

Prazenica was driving the SUV. He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the truck, initially identified only as a 48-year-old man, was hospitalized in stable condition.

“Alcohol is believed to be a factor for the at-fault driver,” Schurman said in press release. “The investigation is ongoing, at the conclusion the results will be turned over to the district attorney’s office for determination of charges.”

Frankstown Road was shut down for a time and then traffic was diverted in both directions around the crash site through the Advance Auto Parts parking lot for several hours.
