Allegheny County Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a man Sunday night in Penn Hills.

Joseph Morris, 51, of Pittsburgh, was found dead by police in front of 1841 Universal Road in Penn Hills after Allegheny County 911 received multiple calls around 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police and paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity was not known at the time, and later identified him as Morris.

Police said they believe Morris had been hit in front of 419 Hershey Road and was then dragged by a vehicle to Universal Road.

The two locations are about a half-mile apart.

Detectives have identified the suspect’s vehicle using video surveillance, but its exact make and model were not known. No suspects have been identified.

When reached by phone, Lt. Kenneth Ruckel declined to offer additional information about the incident.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the county police tipline at 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
