A Penn Hills man was identified as the driver of a dirt bike who was killed on Interstate 79 this week in Washington County, according to Coroner S. Timothy Warco.

Steven F. Macauley, 33, was riding northbound in North Strabane Township at 8:20 p.m. Thursday when he began to get off the highway at Exit 43. Macauley lost control while trying to re-enter the highway from the exit and hit a guardrail, Warco said.

He was wearing a helmet. State police are investigating.
