Piano bar opens at the Waterfront in Homestead
A new brand of piano music has come to the Waterfront Shopping Center in Homestead. The shopping and dining destination has added the national dueling piano chain, The Big Bang Dueling Piano Bar.
It opened Friday. A crowd gathered for opening night offering song requests from country to pop. Guests are invited to write the tune they want on a piece of paper and place it on the top of the piano.
The Waterfront bar is the sixth such location, joining Nashville, Columbus, Cleveland, Las Vegas and Chicago.
“The Big Bang is not your average piano bar,” Sam Leatherwood, co-owner said in a statement. “The entertainers are among the best in the country, incorporating multi-instruments including drums, bass, guitar and a dozen others into their show to create a fast-paced, high-energy entertainment experience that will be unlike anything else in Pittsburgh. We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of The Waterfront.”

“We have so many fantastic entertainment options here at The Waterfront and bringing The Big Bang on board will help us attract even more patrons to our center,” said Emily Wittmer, marketing director at The Waterfront in a statement. “This latest addition is just the first of several new tenants we’ll be announcing this year.”
The food menu includes a limited menu of appetizers and pizzas. The space is available for private events. There is no cover charge on Thursdays and a $6 cost Fridays and Saturdays.
Leatherwood, who owns Big Bang with business partner Meredyth Muller, said they are excited to move into the former Sing Sing location which they’ve remodeled the space.
“We love this space and Sing Sing had a great run of 17 years,” Leatherwoood said. “We are looking forward to interacting with the audiences here in Pittsburgh. This kind of music is great therapy.”
Jaime Schneider director of operations said it’s about bringing new energy to the place.
“We invite people to let their hair down and have a good time,” she said.
