Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue distributes food to dogs in need during event at Allegheny County Airport
Volunteers from the Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team, in partnership with the Allegheny County Airport Authority, helped make sure no dogs would go hungry during the covid-19 pandemic as they handed out free bags of dog food to those in need Friday.
The distribution, which took place at the Allegheny County Airport in West Mifflin, opened about 15 minutes earlier than the planned 11 a.m. start due to heavy lines forming in the airport’s parking lot. About an hour into the event, the lines eased, but cars continued to trickle in.
In total, there was more than 80,000 pounds of dog food available.
