A Pittsburgh Public Works Department salt truck sideswiped several vehicles in Lawrenceville early Sunday, and the driver failed to report the mishap until Monday, a city official said.

Tim McNulty, spokesman for Mayor Bill Peduto, said public works officials are investigating. He said it was unclear if the driver, who has not been identified, will face discipline.

The accident happened on 54th Street when an improperly attached salt spreader came loose and sideswiped the vehicles.

City vehicles on occasion damage vehicles parked along the streets. Owners can seek reimbursement by completing a claim form available on the Pittsburgh Law Department website.
