A Pittsburgh man with a long criminal history was sentenced Thursday to seven years and six months in a federal prison for weapons violations, according to U.S. Attorney Scott Brady.

Darnell James Shipman, 29, was ordered to spend three years on supervised release after the prison term.

Between 2010 and 2018, Shipman was convicted of 13 offenses, including felonies, in seven cases, according to federal authorities. As a result, he was prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition.

On May 2, 2018, a pistol and 17 rounds of ammunition were found in his vehicle when Pittsburgh police arrested him on outstanding warrants.

He pleaded guilty in March.
