The 29th annual Pittsburgh Irish Festival is moving its location at Sandcastle water park.

Festival organizers plan to host the September event at Sandcastle’s main parking lot, known as “The Lots.”

The move became necessary after heavy rains and flooding at the old location, the Riverplex at Sandcastle, forced the cancellation of the Festival’s third day in 2018.

“This move will eliminate weather as a factor that can negatively impact the event,” said Festival Director Mairin Petrone. “By moving to The Lots, we are able to erect additional tents that will provide cover from the elements.”

Additional parking will be made available on the Sandcastle grounds, including a new premium parking lot option, and guests will have the opportunity to take shuttle from other nearby lots, Petrone said.

The festival runs Sept. 6-8.

Discounted advance tickets to the 2019 Pittsburgh Irish Festival are available here.
