A Pittsburgh man with 13 prior convictions pleaded guilty in federal court for having a handgun and ammunition, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Darnell James Shipman, 29, entered the guilty plea Friday before U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.

Shipman, who is a convicted felon, was accused of brandishing a 9 mm pistol and ammunition when threatening a person in Pittsburgh in May 2018.

Judge Fischer scheduled sentencing for Aug. 6. Shipman could be sentenced up to 10 years in prison and fined up to $250,000 or both, according to U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady. Sentencing will depend on prior convictions and severity of the offense.
