A 26-year-old Pittsburgh man was identified as the driver of the motorcycle involved in a fatal crash Friday morning in the eastbound lanes of the Squirrel Hill Tunnel.

Aaron Pascal died at the scene of the crash, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office said.

Pascal was driving a motorcycle in the tunnel when it struck the rear of a box truck and then went beneath a flatbed semi-trailer, according to state police.

Pascal was pronounced dead at 10:25 a.m. at the scene, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The outbound lanes of the tunnel were closed until just before 2 p.m. Friday as authorities investigated the crash, PennDOT said.
