Associate conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Andrés Franco’s contract has been extended through the 2021-2022 season.

Franco is in his fourth season with the symphony.

As resident conductor, Franco will continue to assist music director Manfred Honeck and the orchestra’s guest conductors, while also leading education, outreach and other concerts throughout the season.

He will conduct outdoor concerts at Hartwood Acres and South Park this summer. He will also be a part of

‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert,” Aug. 2-4 at Heinz Hall, Downtown.

“We are so pleased that Andrés Franco will deepen his relationship with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra where he has made a significant impact with his vivacious style and his deep commitment to engaging audiences of all ages,” Melia Tourangeau, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, said in a statement.

A frequent guest conductor in the U.S., Europe, and South America, Franco has appeared with the symphonies of Columbus, Fort Worth, Houston, Indianapolis, and St. Louis; the philharmonic orchestras of Boise and Oklahoma City; and the Chicago Sinfonietta as well as with orchestras all over the world.
