Pittsburgh to begin street repaving on Monday, advises residents to move vehicles
Paving crews will start resurfacing Pittsburgh streets on Monday, and city officials are asking residents to make sure to move vehicles in advance of the work.
Workers will put fliers on vehicle windshields 48 hours before a street is paved and residents registered for telephone alerts from the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority will receive a robocall a week before work begins. To register for PWSA alerts, click here.
Residents can find a list of streets scheduled for resurfacing here. The city will also provide advisories through social media channels, including Facebook and Twitter.
Mayor Bill Peduto’s office earmarked about $15.7 million for paving streets, including asphalt, concrete, brick and block surfaces, throughout the city in 2020.
The city plans to repave approximately 27 miles of streets. Additional streets will be paved through cooperation agreements with local utilities, according to the Mayor’s Office.
Peduto last week announced that the city was easing coronavirus restrictions to permit outside construction work by employees in the Department of Public Works, Mobility and Infrastructure and the Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections.
