A Pittsburgh woman was sentenced to four years in federal prison for her involvement in a string of armed bank robberies in Pittsburgh and its suburbs two years ago.

Nicole Wallace, 35, was also ordered to pay restitution for the money she stole. Prosecutors didn’t say how much money was taken.

Wallace acted as the getaway driver for two armed bank robberies and one attempted armed bank robbery in Oct. 2018, according to prosecutors.

In Nov. 2018, Pittsburgh police arrested and detained Wallace, Edward Hooten of Pittsburgh and Jason Rini of Heidelberg as suspects in connection to the three bank robberies.

A federal grand jury in February 2019 charged both Wallace and Hooten in the armed robbery of the Huntington Bank on Brownsville Road in Carrick on Oct. 17, 2018.

Wallace was charged in the attempted armed robbery of First National Bank in Whitehall on Oct. 27, 2018, and the armed robbery of First National Bank in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood on Oct. 29, 2018.

Rini waived his right to an indictment by a grand jury, and was scheduled to plead guilty to the robberies at a Feb. 2019 hearing, U.S. Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Margaret Philbin said.
