Pittsburgh’s Environmental Services Department on Nov. 16 will pick up yard waste left at curbside.

Pittsburgh will collect grass clippings, leaves and other yard waste left at the curb Nov. 16, the Mayor’s Office announced Monday.

Residents are encouraged to place debris weighing up to 35 pounds in brown paper bags and leave it at the curb before 6 a.m. Branches must be tied with fiber twine or natural rope in lengths of 5 feet or less.

The city will accept only leaves, branches, brush and grass. It will not take such debris as plastic bags, metal, rocks, bricks, dirt or glass.

Regular refuse collection will continue as scheduled on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Residents also can drop off yard waste year-round at three recycling centers:

  • East End Drop-Off Center, 6814 Hamilton Ave.
  • Hazelwood Drop-Off Center, 40 Melanchton St.
  • West End Drop-Off Center, 1330 Hassler St.
