The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium will announce the name of its clouded leopard cub Wednesday and introduce the cub’s new companion.

The 2-month-old clouded leopard was born March 14 to its mom Saya and dad Pi.

Zoo staff hand raised the cub after they discovered she wasn’t nursing on her own.

The Pittsburgh Zoo contacted other zoos to find a companion for the cub, which arrived from Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Kansas last week. She was born four days after Pittsburgh’s cub and also needed a companion.

The cub spent a couple days in quarantine before keepers began the introductions.

Once the cubs get more acclimated to each other and their new surroundings the zoo will schedule playtime outside in the Clouded Leopard exhibit at the Islands.

Clouded leopards are listed as endangered, with fewer than 10,000 left in the wild.
