A bullet came ripping through the front window and into the living room fireplace of a home in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood early Saturday, officials said.

No one was at home at the house on Bennett Street, Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said.

Police found the bullet lodged into the home’s fireplace.

Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert shortly before 1:30 a.m. that directed them to two nearby locations, the 7000 block of Frankstown Avenue and the 6900 block of Bennett Street, Cruz said.

The bureau’s Crime Scene Unit was called out to process the scene.

Officials did not provide further details nor cite any possible or motives for the shots fired.

Police continue to investigate.

Officials asked anyone with information to reach Pittsburgh police’s Zone 5 at 412-665-3605. Callers can remain anonymous.
