A maintenance worker at a hotel on Pittsburgh’s North Shore is being held without bond on rape and other charges for an assault at the hotel on Sunday.

Michael Cooper, 48, who lives on the border of Pittsburgh’s Knoxville and Mt. Oliver neighborhoods, turned himself in to authorities on Wednesday, Pittsburgh police said.

Cooper is accused of raping a woman Sunday night at the hotel. He was doing maintenance work on the room when he raped and assaulted the woman, according to a criminal complaint.

Cooper has a lengthy criminal record, including a 1993 first-degree murder conviction, numerous assaults and burglaries, according to court records.
