Police: Fight at Kennywood results in 7 arrests; 150 escorted out
Seven people were arrested after a large fight broke out Friday inside and outside of Kennywood, West Mifflin police reported.
Officers said about 150 people were also escorted out of the amusement park, which closed about a half-hour early as a result of the incident.
Kennywood spokesman Nick Paradise wrote in an email the park called for local law enforcement assistance “due to the disruptive behavior of some park visitors” about 6:30 p.m.
He said the safety of guests and team members are the park’s first and foremost priority, and “Kennywood will work with law enforcement on further investigation to hold those responsible for tonight’s incidents accountable.”
Police from Duquesne, Clairton, Munhall, Homestead, Swissvale and Whitaker also responded.
West Mifflin police said they called for the additional manpower to get things under control quickly.
Police said no one required hospitalization. The incident remains under investigation.
No information about the arrested has been released.
Anyone with information about the fight is asked to contact West Mifflin police at 412-461-0600.
Kennywood opened for the season July 10. Guests are subject to temperature checks and must wear masks.
