A 33-year-old man is in stable condition at UPMC Mercy hospital after being stabbed in the arm and lower back shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday in Downtown, Pittsburgh police said.

Police found Donnie Green lying on a sidewalk in Market Square with the stab wounds.

A large group of men flagged down police and said a man later identified as Michael Bob Jr., 25, of Carnegie was the man who stabbed Green.

Bob was holding a knife, dropped it when asked by police and was arrested without incident, police said.

Green told police he was sitting in a car with a friend when he heard Bob was arguing with another man near Wood Street and Liberty Avenue, according to a criminal complaint.

Green and Bob talked, then Bob told him, “I’ll stab you all right now,” and pushed Green twice with a knife in his hand. Bob tried to board a Port Authority bus but was stopped from doing so when Green told the driver Bob had stabbed him, according to the criminal complaint.

The bus drove away and Green punched Bob in the back of the head, according to police. The men then followed each other to Market Square and police arrived shortly thereafter.

Police reviewed video surveillance from the entrance to the Benedum Center and have asked the Port Authority to preserve any footage that may have been captured by the bus.

Bob is facing charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threats.

This is the second stabbing Downtown in less than a week.

On Aug. 8, a woman was stabbed and killed and another was injured in what appeared to be a random act of violence at a Downtown bus stop, police said.

James Wyatt, 23, of McKeesport is charged in the stabbing that happened about 11:40 a.m. at a bus stop on Sixth Avenue near Smithfield Street.
